Quite large fruits (up to 2 cm in diameter) ripen in September. Their taste is pleasant, freshly sour.

Cultivation of hawthorn blood red
Propagated by hawthorn stratified seeds, cuttings or grafting. With seed propagation, fruiting occurs on the 10-12th year, after vaccination - on the 3-4th.
It is better to plant hawthorn in the northeastern part of the garden to protect other plants from cold winds with its help.
Humus, a half-liter jar of wood ash, a handful of superphosphate are added to a pit measuring 50 × 50 cm and they shovel it all. The root neck is buried by 3-5 cm. An irrigation hole is made in a radius of 30 cm from the trunk and 5 buckets of water are poured into it, with short breaks.
Two weeks keep the soil moist so that the seedling is better rooted. Do not forget about watering and in the heat, so that a normal growth is formed.
From hawthorn you can make a beautiful hedge. Thanks to its long and firm spines, it becomes an insurmountable barrier. It is also a good shelter for small birds and their chicks from hawks, crows and magpies.
Hawthorn easily tolerates a haircut and looks great in company with Nevezhinsky mountain ash, barberry, Virgin bird cherry and other decorative-flowering plants.
